Hearing on Proposed Wolf Ridge Sewage Treatment Plant

Thursday, August 3  in the Moore Auditorium at Mars Hill College. They want to deposit an estimated 300,000 gallons of chemically-treated sewage PER DAY from 900 new homes, a hotel, and The Lodge into Puncheon Fork, to flow into Big Laurel Creek and then into the Laurel River!  If you think this is not a good idea for the Laurel Valley and Madison County, please join us to make our voices heard. Registration begins at 6pm for the hearing starting at 7.

Fly Fishing in Alaska

Tim Bumgarner worked in Alaska. Click here for pictures from a trip on the Chena River in the interior of Alaska northeast of Fairbanks.  The fish are Artic grayling.  Tim is the guy in the glasses. Mark is the other guy. The grayling would only hit gray colored flies in sizes 16-18. These were caught on dun's that Tim tied. The Chena is catch and release only, single hook artificial lures.

Local Fly Fishers on Television

Our chapter president, Starr Nolan, will be featured on Rods and Reels, ESPN2, August 5 @ 9:00 and 11:30 AM ET.  She will take Sgt. Joe Kowalski and Brad Beasley on a backcountry, camp out adventure, fly fishing for trout in the Mills River area in Henderson County, NC.

Eddie Pinkston, Kevin Howell,  and Walker Parrott competed in the Fly Fishing Masters Invitational. Eight of the best fly anglers in each half of the country were paired in random team matchups.  For the show schedule, click here.

NCTU Rivercourse Youth Camp

The camp was a great success. There were twelve boys and girls participating this year.  Jeff Curtis said, "It was the best one ever.  The staff were wonderful and everybody caught fish." Pictures will be on the website soon.
