LOS TU 2nd Annual Fund Raiser BBQ

Our second annual BBQ fund raiser will be Saturday June 14th from 2-7 at Lake Logan.  This is our major fund raiser for the year.  So, we are hoping that everyone in the Chapter can help support this function.  The money raised will be used to sponsor campers at RiverCourse and Casting for Recovery.  In addition, the money will be used for cold water conservation activities as they present themselves.  One of the unique features of the LOS chapter of TU is that our philosophy is to spend any money we raise over the next 12 months.  Because of this philosophy, we do not have have 10's of thousands of dollars in reserve like a lot of chapters do.  This makes our annual fund raiser of great importance to continue to support the many great projects and initiatives we are involved with in Western North Carolina.  For more information and to purchase tickets online, please go to the LOSTUBBQ page.

Jim Hefley Oil Paintings

You can now commission an original oil painting scene of your favorite trout stream in WNC from one of our own TU LOS members. Jim Hefley specializes in paintings of our beautiful mountain streams, many featuring a fly fisherman casting a fly or netting a trout. For more information and photos of his work, please go to the Jim Hefley page.

Rivercourse 2008

The North Carolina State Council of Trout Unlimited is proud to sponsor the sixth annual N.C.T.U. Rivercourse: Coldwater Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp. The program is designed to teach the ethics of coldwater conservation to our youth. The 2008 camp is scheduled for the week of June 22-27, 2008 at Lake Logan Center near Canton. The area features the pristine habitat and rich history of the West Fork of the Pigeon River and the mountainous region of Haywood County, North Carolina.  For more information about Rivercourse please click here.

Pigeon River Project

Sponsors are needed for the Pigeon River Project.  We did not stock in 2007 due to the severe drought.  We will be stocking in Spring 2008. Trout Unlimited Land O' Sky
Centered in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, we are an organization of anglers and conservationists dedicated to the protection of trout and their habitat. We are located within an hour's drive of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and surrounded by the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests. Many of the premiere trout streams of the southeastern United States are within easy casting distance.

Our chapter is actively involved with other resource agencies, such as the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) in decisions about best management practices for fisheries and watersheds. We assist fisheries scientists from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in stream monitoring.

We maintain an active, ongoing interest in the education of youth on the importance of trout habitat protection and catch and release angling.

We invite all conservation-minded anglers, regardless of their chosen method of fishing or level of fishing experience, to join us in protecting coldwater fisheries in our region.
